BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — The Saginaw Valley State Volleyball team fell on the first of two final road matches of the season to Ferris State, 3-0 Friday night. The Cardinals head to 3-11 in GLIAC and the Bulldogs keep the top spot in conference with an 11-2 record. 

Saginaw Valley stayed neck and neck with Ferris State throughout the first set of the match, holding the a close one point lead at 13-12. The Bulldogs took off shortly after, outscoring the Lady Cards 7-1 to earn a 19-14 lead. Saginaw Valley came within two points, but could not get ahead for the remainder of the game. Ferris State took set one, 25-21, edging out a 1-0 lead. 

The Cardinals were off to a great start, leading the Bulldogs 8-4 during the first timeout of set two. Saginaw Valley kept the lead until FSU knotted up the score, 11-11. Ferris State brought the heat for the next 10 points earning seven to SVSU's three. With a Cardinal timeout at 13-16, Emily Friesl dropped in a kill to take back the serve. The Bulldogs remained aggressive for the rest of the set, taking the victory 25-18. 

The third set was near perfect for the Bulldogs as they posted 14 kills and only one error from the front line. The Cardinals struggled to respond, posting eight errors to their 10 kills. Ferris went on to finish the set 25-16 and posted a 3-0 match win.  


Inside the Box Score: 

• Cardinals out blocked the Bulldogs 10-8.  
• Ferris State grabbed a .313 hitting percentage and held the Cardinals to a .090. 
Hannah Tabit grabbed 28 assists. 
Rachel Eisenhour lead the team with seven kills and only two errors. 
Abbie Toland lead the team with 11 digs.
• SVSU posted 36 digs

The Cardinals will head to Northwood University on Saturday (Nov. 4) for their final road game of the season. The Timberwolves defeated Lake Superior State on Friday night, 3-0. Match is set to begin in Midland at 5 p.m.
