Wildcats Post GLIAC Victory Over Cardinals

UNIVERSITY CENTER -- The Cardinal Volleyball team hosted the Northern Michigan University Wildcats on Saturday (Oct. 28) afternoon in GLIAC action. The Wildcats registered a 3-0 victory over the Cardinals in action at SVSU's Hamilton Gym.

Saginaw Valley ran out to a 5-0 lead in the opening set and led all the way until the set was tied at 19-19. The Cards led at 23-21 as well, but Northern Michigan was able to close the frame out with four straight points for the 25-23 win and 1-0 lead.

The second set started out the same, with the Cards dominant again in the start while running out to a 7-0 edge. The Wildcats worked their way back to knot the set at 10-10 and would take the lead after the frame was tied again at 14-14. The visitors would not relinquish the lead from there, taking a 2-0 lead with a 25-21 set two victory.

After a brief 3-0 lead to begin set number three for SVSU, the Wildcats responded once again and continued on to take the set by a 25-15 count and close-out for the 3-0 victory.

The Cardinals hit the road for another GLIAC weekend of play, beginning Friday (Nov. 3) at Ferris State. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. in Big Rapids.
