SVSU Drops Match versus #8 Ferris State, 3-0

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. — The Cardinal Volleyball team ended their home stretch with a 3-0 loss to #8 Ferris State on Saturday (Sept. 30) afternoon. The Bulldogs now head to 6-0 in the GLIAC and 13-2 overall, while SVSU falls to 3-12 and 2-5 in the conference.

Ferris State came out strong as expected against the Cardinals, taking the first set under their belt with an 8-1 and then continued to build to a 18-5 lead. SVSU tried to rally some points late in the set, but the Bulldogs stayed strong offensively, hitting a .526 and later took the first set 25-12.

Set two, Saginaw Valley played aggressive for the first 10 points keeping the lead until knotting up at 5-5. Bulldogs bounced back and created a six point lead at 12-6, and kept the lead for the remainder of the match. FSU outscored the Cardinals 13-7, taking set two 25-13 and a 2-0 lead.

Third set was a tough one for SVSU, as they battled tight in the first ten points again, but, multiple errors by the Cardinal offense, gave FSU the ability to take the victory home, 25-11 and the match, 3-0.

Lindsey Jacobs and Emily Nieman contributed five digs each.
Hannah Tabit recorded 17 assists and one kill.
Emily Friesl lead the team with two solo blocks.
Sarah Tabit added seven kills.

The Cardinals will travel for the next month, starting with Purdue Northwest on Friday Oct. 6, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Westville Campus. The Pride is coming off 3-0 loss to Ashland University.
