First Day of Multi Events Hosted at GLIAC Outdoor Championships

HILLSDALE - The first day of the 2015 GLIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships officially began on Wednesday (Apr. 29), as the Men's Decathlon and Women's Heptathlon got underway.  Sidney Bischer competed for the Lady Cardinals while Andrew Mudd, Joe Thwing and Ian Rudel participated on the men's side.

Bischer had a pair of runner-up finishes out of the four events held on the opening day.  She used a 1.67 meter showing in the high jump to gain 818 points before racking-up another 860 with a 25.90 second dash in the 200 meter.  She finished seventh in the 100 meter hurdles and eighth in the shot put.

On the men's side, Andrew Mudd claimed a victory and two runner-up showings in the five events hosted.  He won the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.17 seconds for 853 points and finished second in the long jump with a distance of 6.72 meters (799 pts.) and the 100 meter dash portion, posting a time of 11.10 seconds (838 pts.)  Mudd added a third place showing in the high jump as well, clearing the bar at a height of 1.91 meters (723 pts.)

Thwing finished tied for third with Mudd in the high jump with the 1.91 meter mark and 723 points.  His best showing on the day came in the shot put portion, clearing a distance of 11.97 meters for 605 points.

The Men's Decathlon begins competition for Thursday (Apr. 30) at 9:00 a.m. while the Women's Heptathlon begins shortly after at 9:30 a.m.
