Lady Cardinals Travel to Azusa, Calif. to Compete in Bryan Clay Invitational

AZUSA, Calif. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's track and field team competed in the 2015 Bryan Clay Invitational this weekend (Apr. 16-17) which was held at Cougar Stadium on the Azusa Pacific University campus.

Taking 11th in the 100 meter relay for the Cardinals was the team of Domonique Smith, Devyn Powell, Kimberly Balls, and Bria Williams who crossed the finish line with a time of 49.06.  Bria Williams also competed in the 100 meter hurdles along with teammate Tierra Williams, Bria taking 23rd in 15.01 and Tierra 45th in 15.82.  

Smith placed in the 100 meter dash as well with a time of 12.41 taking 30th.  In the 800 meter run it was Paige Stepanski who placed for Saginaw Valley, taking 56th (2:16.65).  Junior Kim Balls took 59th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.67.  The team of Powell, Smith, Balls, and Ola Hendler placed 11th in the 400 meter relay, reaching the finish line in 3:59.88.  Junior Cady Sandel threw a distance of 32.78 meters in the javelin throw, taking 33rd.

The Cardinals will return to action at the GLIAC Outdoor Championships beginning April 29th hosted by Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Mich.
