Women's Track & Field Competes in GVSU-SVSU Dual Meet

ALLENDALE – The Saginaw Valley State University women's track & field team competed in its first event of the 2015 Outdoor Season, going up against the Grand Valley State University Lakers in the annual GVSU-SVSU Dual Meet on Saturday (Mar. 28) afternoon.  Due to cold weather in the area, the event was held indoors, with the exception of the throws and pole vault.

Sidney Bischer claimed the top spot in the 300 Meter Dash, crossing the line with a time of 42.76.  She also finished third in the Long Jump with a distance of 4.87 meters. 

Paige Stepanski and Cady Sandel took second and third, respectively, in the 500 Meter Dash, finishing with times of 1:20.48 and 1:21.71.

Chantelle Fondren took first in the 800 Meter Run, finishing with a mark of 2:15.10.  She would claim victory in the 3,000 Meter Run as well, winning by almost 15 seconds with a time of 10:17.68.

Bria Williams and Tierra Williams were first and second in the 55 Meter Hurdles.  The two finished with times of 8.39 and 8.57, respectively.

The 4 x 300 Relay Team of Kimberly Balls, Ola Hendler, Domonique Smith and Lina Davis finished in first as well, crossing with a time of 2:48.66.  Balls competed in the 55 Meter Dash as well, notching a runner-up finish with a time of 7.42 seconds.

The ladies are back in action on April 3-4 at the Bellarmine Invitational in Louisville, Ky.
