UNIVERSITY CENTER - The Saginaw Valley State University women's track & field team participated in the 2014 SVSU Holiday Classic, hosted by the Lady Cardinals in the new Fieldhouse on the campus of Saginaw Valley State University.

The field events began the afternoon and Anna Fochesato got things going for the Lady Cards with a 1st place finish in the Triple Jump, leaping to a distance of 11.01 meters.  She would add a top showing in the High Jump, clearing the bar at a height of 1.73 meters to tie Phoenix Duncan of Siena Heights.  The jump provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Division II Championships.

The SVSU "A" 4 x 400 Meter Relay team that consisted of Devyn Powell, Kimberly Balls, Paige Stepanski and Savanah Feldpausch finished 2nd with a time of 4:09.44 and the "C" team was just behind with a mark of 4:09.86.  That team fielded Fochesato, Cady Sandel, Sidney Bischer and Mairi Van Dyke as runners.

In the 60 Meter Dash Finals, Domonique Smith (7.78) and Balls (7.87) finished one and two, respectively, in the race.  Smith's mark of 7.78 set a new SVSU school record.

Tierra Williams had a runner-up showing in the 60 Meter Hurdles Finals, crossing the line with a time of 9.05.

The ladies return to the oval on January 16th, when the Lady Cardinals host the SVSU Classic.  The start time for field events begins at 2:30 pm in the SVSU Fieldhouse.
