Cardinal Women Finish Competition at Al Owens Invitational

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's track & field teams finished up competition at the Al Owens Invitational, which was hosted by Grand Valley State University.

In the women's 5,000 meter run, Amanda Lacertosa finished in third place after crossing the line with a final time of 18:23.43.  Teammate Jessica Reeves wasn't far behind with a sixth place showing of 18:44.02.

Tierra Williams finished just one spot out of qualifying for the 100 meter hurdles, as she placed 10th with a mark of 15.54 in the prelims.

In the high jump, Anna Fochesato had a third place showing.  She cleared the bar with a height of 1.66 meters, the same as the two finishers ahead of her.

Emily Short and Chantelle Fondren competed in the Mt. SAC Relays out in California on Friday, and both put up some impressive numbers.  Short posted an NCAA Division II provisional mark of 17:04.10 in the 5,000 meter run while Fondren won her section in the 1,500 meter run, crossing the line with a time of 4:38.47.

SVSU returns to the track on April 25-26 at the Gina Relays, which will be hosted by Hillsdale College.
