SVSU Finishes Competition at Bellarmine Invitational

BELLARMINE, Ky. - The Saginaw Valley State University track & field teams traveled to participate in the Bellarmine Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Day One

Christina Micale finished 4th in the 3,000 meter women's steeplechase with a mark of 11:28.78.  In the 10,000 meter run, Tori Peet crossed the line with a time of 38:30.68, finishing 3rd.  Emily Short had a 5th place finish in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:44.49.  Emerald Joiner had a 3rd place showing in the hammer throw, tossing it a distance of 48.70 meters.  

In the men's hammer throw, Devin Hartnagle had a distance of 45.28 meters, finishing runner-up.  Tyler Grob tied for 3rd in the pole vault with a height of 4.60 meters while  Gareth Gose posted a 5th place showing in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:49.10.  

Day Two

Emily Short posted a 2nd place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:16.11 and fellow Cardinal Chantell Fondren placed 4th in the same race with a time of 2:18.32.

Cady Sandel placed 2nd in the javelin throw with a distance of 111'1" and Anna Fochesato had a 3rd place showing in the high jump, clearing the bar a a height of 5'5".

Joiner placed 5th in the discus throw (127') while Meg Goettsch finished 6th in the hammer throw (135'4").

The 4 x 400 meter relay team, consisting of Ola Hendler, Kimberly Balls, Diamond Taylor and Shavonne Roberson, finished in 5th place with a time of 2:18.32.

In the men's 5,000 meter run, Joey Burelle ran to a 6th place finish with a time of 15:09.01 and Tony Peel was 8th (15:29.29) in the same race.

Joey Southgate had a 5th place showing in the 10,000 meter race, crossing the line with a time of 32:23.46.

Eric Thornton placed 5th in the high jump with a height of 6'6.75" while Nick Halabicky was third in the shot put with a distance of 46'3.25".

The Cardinals are off until the Northwood University Open, which is set to take place on Saturday, April 12th.
