Wright Garners Two All-American Honors at 2012 Outdoor Championships

PUEBLO, Colo. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's track and field team was given the opportunity to send an athlete to the 2012 NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships.  Senior Alycia Wright (Macomb, Mich./Lutheran North HS) was the lone member of the SVSU women's track and field team that was able to compete this week at the NCAA DII Championships.  

Wright automatically qualified to compete in the 800 and 1,500-meter runs.  She was able to qualify for the finals of the 1,500-meter run Thursday (May 24) clocking in at 4:38.36.  With this time Wright sits ninth overall going into the finals.  On Friday (May 25) she qualified for the finals of the 800-meter run with a time of 2:10.52, good for seventh overall in the prelims.  Wright competed today (May 26) in the finals of the 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs.  She placed sixth in both the 800 and 1,500-meter runs clocking in at 2:13.69 and 4:41.87, respectively.  With these top-finishes Wright garners two All-American honors for Saginaw Valley.

With the completion of the meet the Cardinals end their outdoor season and look to surprise teams next indoor season.
