Cardinals Selected to Indoor Track & Field All-Region Team

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has named All-Region honorees for Indoor Track & Field in Division II. The top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region's top three have earned the All-Region distinction for the 2012 indoor season.

A total of 1,012 athletes receive 1,476 USTFCCCA All-Region nods. The USTFCCCA regions match those used for NCAA Cross Country Championships.

Saginaw Valley State University men's and women's indoor track & field teams were represented by three individuals on the recognition list.

Tyler Grob (Pinckney, Mich.) was the lone representative on the All-Region team for the men's team after qualifying in the heptathlon with 5,092 points.

On the women's side, Alycia Wright (Macomb, Mich./Lutheran North HS) sits third in the region with a mark of 2:11.29 in the 800 meter run, while Diamond Taylor (Southfield, Mich.) qualified in the 400 meter dash with a time of 57.85 seconds, ranking fourth in the region.

Grob, Taylor and Wright will all be part of the Saginaw Valley indoor track squad that will travel to Minnesota State University Mankato to compete in the 2012 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships.
