Cardinals Headed to Nationals, Women Jump Into Top 25

CARDINALS HEADED TO NATIONALS

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee has announced the participants for the 2012 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching the automatic and provisional standards established for each event.

The championships will be held March 9-10 in Mankato, Minn., at Myers Field.  Minnesota State University, Mankato will serve as host of the championships.

The following Cardinal student athletes will travel to Minnesota State University Mankato to compete in the 2012 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships:

Heptathlon: Tyler Grob - 5,092 points

800 Meter Run: Alycia Wright - 2:11.29

Distance Medley Relay: Emily Short, Diamond Taylor, Alycia Wright, Ashley Meyer, Megan Pittoors (alternate) - 11:51.35

Pole Vault: Elizabeth Willford - 3.75 meters

Qualifiers: Men - Women

 

WOMEN JUMP INTO TOP 25

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's track and field team have also received recognition in the NCAA Division II U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Top 25. The Cardinals are currently ranked No. 25 in the country, moving up from No. 29 last week.

Saginaw Valley is one of seven Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools to be ranked in the Top 25, more than any other conference in Division II.

The Lady Cardinals are coming off a fifth place finish last weekend at the 2012 GLIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at the University of Findlay.
