SVSU Tennis drops close match to Christian Brothers

SAINT LEO, Fla. -- The Cardinal Women's Tennis team dropped their first match on their week-long trip to Florida, falling by a score of 4-3 to Christian Brothers University. The match was a back and forth battle with CBU pulling it out at the end. The Cardinals won their points in the singles matches.

Taylor McLaughlin lead the way by battling back from an early set deficit to take her match at #3 Singles by the score of 3-6, 7-5, 10-6. Maddie Miller took home a victory at #1 Singles by the score of 6-3, 6-4. And at the #6 Singles position, Nicole Johnson had no trouble in her match with a 6-0, 6-2 win.

"I was really proud of the effort and fight today by our team" said Head Coach Ryan Ruzziconi. "Our team has only had one match since last fall, so there was a little match play rust to overcome today. And you could see our team breaking through in the second sets and starting to play some really good Cardinal tennis."
