Women's Tennis competes at 2019 ITA Regional

GRAND RAPIDS -- The Saginaw Valley State University Women's Tennis team competed over the weekend at the 2019 ITA Regional Tournament, hosted by Davenport University.  

Singles

The Cardinals weren't able to claim any victories in the main draws of the A Singles and B Singles, but Gyselle Daza Gutierrez posted a 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory over LSSU's Nadege Koua to advance to the Round of 16 in the A singles consolation draw. Nicole Johnson and Adiya Young advanced just as far in the consolation round of the B singles action, with Johnson posting a 6-4, 6-2 win over Findlay's Kayley Gimbel and Young winning 6-1, 6-2 over Riley Gilman of LSSU.

Doubles

Maddie Miller and Taylor McLaughlin claimed an 8-2 win over their opponents from Lewis University to advance to the round of 16 before bowing out of the main draw.   

Up Next...

The Cardinals host their first two home matches of the 2019 campaign, hosting Davenport on Saturday (Sep. 28) at 1:00 p.m. before playing Purdue Northwest on Sunday in an 11:00 a.m. matchup.
