TAMPA, Fla. -- The Cardinal Women's Tennis team played at the University of Tampa on Thursday (Mar. 7) afternoon in the team's final match of the 2019 spring trip. Saginaw Valley fell by a final score of 7-0 to the Spartans in the match.
Doubles
Taylor McLaughlin and Nicole Johnson had a close contest at #2 but would fall by a final score of 7-5. At #1, Maddie Miller and Joanne Gao dropped their match by a 6-3 final. That would give the Spartans the doubles point for the match.
Singles
Miller had the closest singles competition for SVSU, dropping her matchup at #1 by a 6-4, 7-6 count with the second set tiebreaker. Gao fell at #2 singles 6-0, 6-2 while McLaughlin dropped her contest at #3 6-1, 6-3. Johnson lost at her #4 spot as well, taking the first set 6-4 before falling in the second and third 6-2, 10-4.
