Women's Tennis falls in Florida to No. 3 Saint Leo

ST. LEO, Fla. -- Playing on day two of the 2019 spring trip in Florida, the Saginaw Valley State University Women's Tennis team had another tough opponent in the No. 3-ranked team in the nation, Saint Leo University. The Cardinals battled but it was not enough, as the Lions closed-out for the 7-0 victory. 

Doubles

Joanne Gao and Maddie Miller had a battle at the No. 1 doubles spot but would eventually fall by a close 6-4 count. Taylor McLaughlin and Nicole Johnson competed at No. 2, dropping their matchup by a score of 6-2. 

Singles

Gao lost at No. 2 singles by scores of 6-2, 6-4 while McLaughlin fell 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 3 slot. Miller was once again at the No. 1 spot for the Cards, falling 6-2, 6-1 in her match. Johnson rounded-out the competition for Saginaw Valley, dropping her match by a score of 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 4 spot.
