MIDLAND -- The Cardinal Women's Tennis squad faced Ferris State University on Sunday (Oct. 21) in the regular season finale. Despite many close matchups and tiebreaks, the Bulldogs came out on top by a final score of 7-0.
Both teams are now 4-5 overall and 4-5 in GLIAC play as the fall regular season comes to a close following the match.
Doubles
Maddie Miller and Gyselle Daza Gutierrez lost a very tight contest at the #1 spot, falling 7-6 (5) in a tiebreaker. The Bulldogs claimed the #2 and #3 matchups as well, taking the singles point. Joanne Gao and Maya Campbell fell 6-1 at #2 while Taylor McLaughlin and Nicole Johnson lost 6-2 at the #3 slot.
Singles
There were three-set contests at the #1 and #2 positions, as Miller fell 6-4, 5-7, 8-10 at the top spot while Gao fell by a count of 1-6, 7-6 (5), 7-10. McLaughlin lost 7-6, 6-3 at #3 while Campbell fell 7-5, 6-3 at the #4 position. Gutierrez fell 7-5, 6-3 at #5 while Johnson lost 6-2, 6-2 at #6 singles.
