Tennis falls in spring trip finale at #13 Saint Leo

ST. LEO, Fla. -- The Cardinal Women's Tennis team played at Saint Leo University on Thursday (Mar. 8) afternoon, taking on the No. 13 nationally-ranked Lions. Saint Leo would live up to their national ranking in the match, defeating Saginaw Valley by a 9-0 score at the Saint Leo Tennis Center. 

The Cardinals fell by an 8-4 count at No. 1 doubles, as Shea Donahue and Maddie Miller competed well but would drop the matchup. At the No. 3 slot, Taylor McLaughlin and Nikita Hill lost their meeting by an 8-3 score.

In singles action, McLaughlin fell by a 6-3, 6-3 score at the No. 4 spot. Miller fell 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot and Danielle Slonac dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision at the No. 5 position. 

Saginaw Valley returns to their spring schedule on Saturday, Mar. 17 when they travel to play at Lawrence Tech University. First serve will be at 6:00 p.m.
