UNIVERSITY CENTER -- Saginaw Valley State University senior Women's Tennis student-athlete Shea Donahue has been ranked as one of the top singles players in the Midwest Region following a stellar fall season for the Cardinals. She is currently ranked No. 14 in the most recent rankings, which listed the top-20 singles players and top-10 doubles pairings.

Donahue, a native of Haslett, Michigan, has stepped up in a big way for the Cardinals in taking over the No. 1 singles role. She was named to the All-GLIAC First Team in 2017, racking up an overall record of 7-5 in singles play. Shea competed at the No. 1 doubles slot as well this fall, teaming up with Taylor McLaughlin for a 6-8 overall record.

Saginaw Valley had an impressive fall campaign in posting an overall mark of 9-5, including a 7-3 GLIAC record. The Cards finished 5th at the 2017 GLIAC Tournament and were 4th in the league standings following the regular season. The team capped-off the season with consecutive 5-0 victories in the annual league postseason tournament over Ashland and Michigan Tech. The team is back in action early on in March when it opens the 2018 spring schedule in Florida.
