BAY CITY -- Three Saginaw Valley State University Women's Tennis student-athletes have earned All-GLIAC honors for their play during the 2017-18 season.
Senior Shea Donahue was named to the All-GLIAC First Team while sophomore Maddie Miller earned Second Team All-GLIAC honors. Joanne Gao was named to the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention team following her fantastic freshman campaign.
Donahue went 6-5 overall and 5-5 in the GLIAC while competing at the No. 1 singles position for Saginaw Valley. She added a 4-7 overall mark at the No. 1 doubles spot, going 4-6 in the GLIAC with partner Taylor McLaughlin.
Miller registered a 6-5 overall record in singles, going 6-4 at her new No. 2 slot with that same record in the GLIAC. She was 6-4 overall at No. 2 doubles as well, going 6-3 in league play at that spot with partner Danielle Slonac.
Gao went 6-4 overall in singles play, posting a 6-3 mark in her regular No. 3 spot in the lineup. In doubles play, Gao and fellow freshman Maya Campbell went 6-3 at the No 3 spot and 1-0 at No. 2 doubles.
The Cardinals open 2017 GLIAC Tournament play on Friday (Oct. 27) evening against Tiffin at 6:45 p.m. at the Greater Midland Tennis Center. Saginaw Valley posted a 7-4 overall record and 7-5 mark in the GLIAC for the fall season, securing the No. 4 overall seed in this year's tournament.
