ALLENDALE -- The Saginaw Valley State University Women's Tennis team hit the road for a pair of GLIAC matches on the weekend, beginning with a Saturday (Oct. 21) afternoon meeting with the Grand Valley State University Lakers. GVSU claimed all three doubles matches, continuing to claim four of the six singles matchups to grab a 7-2 win. 

Doubles

The Lakers claimed all three matches in doubles play. The closest match was at the No. 2 spot, where Madeline Miller and Danielle Slonac dropped a tight 8-5 score to their opponents. 

Singles

In singles play, Shea Donahue posted a nice 6-4, 6-4 victory for the Cardinals at the No. 1 position. Joanne Gao had the other win for Saginaw Valley, as she was victorious at No. 3 singles by a 6-3, 4-6, 10-2 count. Slonac fell in a close match at No. 5 singles, 4-6, 4-6.

The Cardinals continue on the road on the west side of the state, playing at Ferris State Sunday (Oct. 22) in another league match. First serve is slated for 10:00 a.m. in Big Rapids, Michigan.
