Divers Compete at GVSU Last Chance Invite

ALLENDALE – The Saginaw Valley State University women's divers competed in the GVSU Last Chance Diving Invitational today (Jan. 31) on the campus of Grand Valley State University.  Today was the first meet this year where the trio of divers dove 11 dives in competition in the one-meter and three-meter events.

Kathleen Murphy posted a total score of 392.60 on the one-meter board.  That score qualified her for the NCAA Division II qualifying meet in Indianapolis on March 10th.  The top-22 divers from the qualifying meet will then advance to compete in the NCAA Championship meet that week in their event.  Murphy recorded a total score of 370.75 on the three-meter board.

Wilhelmina Francisco dove to a total score of 379.05 in the one-meter event and a 364.75 in the three-meter event.

Erica Wysocki competed in both events as well, posting a total score of 361.20 on the one-meter board and a team-best 374.90 on the three-meter board.

The SVSU swimmers and divers return to the pool on Wednesday, February 11th as the program competes in its first ever Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships.  This year's championships are being held at the Jenison Aquatics Center in Jenison, Michigan.
