SVSU Women's Swimming & Diving Holds First Practice

UNIVERSITY CENTER - The Saginaw Valley State University women's swimming & diving team held its first-ever practice in program history on Thursday afternoon in SVSU's Gerstacker Regional Aquatic Center.

The brand new program is in preparation for the 2014-15 season, which will kick-off on Friday, October 10th when the team hosts its first-ever swim meet.

Head Coach Bruce Zimmerman had some thoughts after observing his team pool-side for the practice session...

"I was happy with the team's first practice," said Zimmerman.  "The girls were enthusiastic and excited to finally get in the water and on the diving boards. From a coaching perspective, the practice was designed to evaluate where the team is from a technical and conditioning standpoint. Overall the coaching staff was pleased with what we saw on the first day, but we have a lot of work to do in preparation for our first competition on October 10th against Tiffin and Malone. The team has a great deal of potential and, based on what we saw in the first practice, we are expecting some exciting things to happen for the program this season."
