Bajis and Cardinals Take Down Rangers

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer program hosted Wisconsin-Parkside for their Kick Cancer Day Friday afternoon. The Cardinals (5-5-3, 3-3-3 GLIAC) defeated the Rangers (3-7-4, 1-5-4 GLIAC) with a score of 3-1 as Madi Bajis scored a brace with two goals in the first half.

SVSU led in shots 18-10 and shots on goal 12-6 as goalkeeper Lainey Garbarz stopped five of the six shots she faced. Bajis scored in the 24th minute from Brie Clasen and Stephanie Strong to take the early lead. Before the public address announcer could announce the goal, the Rangers tied the match as Chloe Jarosz beat L. Garbarz with a header. It took Bajis eight minutes to take back the lead as she scored off a header as well, assisted by Strong for the second time.

In the second half, Grace Miller scored her first as a Cardinal after a loose ball in the box bounced around, Rileigh Garbarz passed it back out to Miller who beat the keeper low left to make it 3-1. SVSU closed out the final 35 minutes with the two-goal lead to get back in the win column.
