Cardinals fall in defensive GLIAC Semifinal battle with Bulldogs

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team fell 1-0 to the Ferris State University Bulldogs on Friday evening at Grand Valley State University in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals. 

Both teams played a scoreless first half. The Bulldogs had four shots on goal, while the Cardinals had one.

In the second half, Ferris State and SVSU continued to battle with the score tied at zero. The Bulldogs were able to finally find the back of the net in the 84th minute when Lindsay Cole scored the game-winner off an assist by Isabella Zamborini. 

Olivia Argeros made 11 saves in net for SVSU. Amy Babon, Sarah Fredrick, and Stephanie Strong all took two shots each for the Cardinals. Strong and Zo Schultz each had a shot on goal.

Ferris State outshot SVSU 17-9. 

The Cardinals will wait and find out if they made the NCAA Tournament field at 6 pm Monday when the selection show will be streamed on NCAA.com. The Cardinals are ranked seventh in the Midwest Region in the latest poll.
