SVSU moves to 6-1 in GLIAC play with shutout over Davenport

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team posted a, 1-0, shutout over Davenport at the Midland Community Stadium. The Cardinals improve to 9-5 overall and 6-1 in GLIAC play.

The Cardinals were first to score as Sakura Bals took a deflection off an Allison Sims ball and was able to put the ball in the back of the net to put SVSU up, 1-0, at the 13' mark. This score held true through the remainder of the half as Alyssa Watts and the Cardinal defense kept the Panthers off the scoreboard.

SVSU outshot the Panthers, 8-2, and only allowed DU two kick opportunities in the first half of play.

Davenport was more active on the offensive side of the ball in the second half with seven shots. The Cardinals were able to defend all offensive opportunities and keep DU off the scoreboard through the second half. Alyssa Watts saw nine shots and earned saves for all nine Panther attacks, leading the Cardinals to a, 1-0, win over Davenport.
