Cardinals Drop Match Against #18 Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team dropped a GLIAC match to #18 Ashland, 2-1, and fall to 6-5 overall and 3-1 in the GLIAC.

The Ashland Eagles would get on the scoreboard first just under the 11' mark as Bella Petrock beat Alyssa Watts on an unassisted goal to put the Eagles up, 1-0, on the Cardinals.

SVSU would strike back with just 10 seconds remaining in the first half as Allison Sims fed Valentina Giambanco who found the back of the net to knot the score 1-1 heading into halftime.

The Cardinals recorded six shots, two of those on goal, in the first half while Ashland had 10 with three on goal.

The second half would remain knotted, 1-1, until the 68' mark as Emily Ledbetter would find the back of the net for the Eagles to give Ashland a 2-1 advantage. This score would hold true through the remainder of the match as SVSU would drop the match, 2-1.
