Cardinals Fall in Opening Round of NCAA Tournament to Walsh 1-0

Allendale, Mich. — The #24 SVSU Women's Soccer team faced Walsh in the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament held at No. 1 seed Grand Valley State University. The Cardinals fell 1-nil to the Cavaliers in the chilly snowstorm, ending the season with a 12-4-4 overall record. 

In the opening minutes of play against WU, Saginaw Valley State found themselves with the ball majority of the time, taking four shots to the Cavaliers one. Although, the one shot led to a goal for Walsh at the 22 minute of play, leaving Saginaw Valley trailing 1-0 heading into the lockerroom at halftime. 

The Cavaliers then when on to out shoot the Cardinals 9-5 in the second half, but could not secure another goal, nor allow SVSU to tie up the contest, securing a 1-nil victory and advancement for WU in the NCAA Tournament to face the winner of Rockhurt and Grand Valley State.
