#21 SVSU Bounces Back With 2-0 Shutout Over Davenport

Caledonia, Mich. -- The Cardinal Women's Soccer team posted its seventh shutout of the 2018 season on Sunday (Oct.14) afternoon, defeating the Davenport Panthers by a final score of 2-0 at DU's home field. 

Saginaw Valley got goals from Amy Babon (9') and Molly Vanderhoff (48') on the offensive side while holding DU to just four shots on goal. 

Babon got the scoring started at the 9:24 marker, using a feed from Molly Vanderhoff to give the home squad a 1-0 lead. 

That score carried over into the halftime break, with SV leading in shots, 10-8. 

Vanderhoff's score came with 48:23 on the clock, as she found a helper from Valentina Giambanco to make the count and final score 2-nil.  

Nine more shots came SVSU's way in the second half to DU's five, concluding Sunday's action with an SV win. 

Inside the Boxscore

  • SVSU had 10 shots on goal, Vanderhoff taking three, Babon with two and five other Cards earning one, as well. 
  • Alyssa Watts (W, 10-2-2) got the win in goal as part of a solid defensive effort once again, saving all four shots from DU.
  • Babon's goal was her second of the season.
  • Vanderhoff posted her sixth goal and fifth assist.
