Lady Cardinals Win Big Over Alderson Broaddus, 8-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The SVSU Women's Soccer team moved to 2-0 on the season, using an offensive outburst to claim an 8-0 victory over regional opponent Alderson Broaddus on Sunday (Sep. 2) at Ohio Dominican University.

Saginaw Valley fired-off 26 shots in the victory, putting on an onslaught of shots on goal with 17 of those 26. The Cardinals scored four times in each half, evening out for the eight-goal win.

The first 13 minutes of action saw SV get out to a quick 2-0 lead, as Lindsay Stroebel (5') had an unassisted goal and that was followed by an Amanda Minissale (13") goal that came off a Molly Vanderhoff feed. A pair of players rounded-out the first half's scoring with their first career goals to put the score at 4-0 heading into the half. Olivia Cogo (33') and Amy Babon (42') each found the back of the net, with Babon's score coming with a helper from Hannah Tarnaski.

Hannah Tarnaski registered her first career goal for the Cardinals just under eight minutes into the second half, using a deep pass from Jennifer Muana to push the lead out to 5-0. There would be no more scoring for the next 32 minutes but SVSU would explode for a few more tallies in the final 10 minutes of action.

Kayla Trevino netted her first two goals of the season, connecting on back-to-back scores at the 85' and 88' marks. The first score came off assists from Minissale and Zo Schultz while the second was assisted by Carlee Davis. The final goal of the contest and the one that sealed the final 8-0 count was when Vanderhoff scored unassisted at the 88' marker, just 12 seconds after Trevino's second goal.
