Two Cardinals Earn 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Women's All-Midwest Region Accolades

KANSAS CITY— The United Soccer Coaches association released their 2017 NCAA DII Women's All-Midwest Region Team Tuesday (Nov. 28) afternoon. Sophomore defender, Jennifer Muana, earned the 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Women's All-Midwest Region Second-Team accolade while Molly Vanderhoff received her recognition on the Third-Team. These teams are picked by the regions coaching staff.

Muana held down the back line for the second year in a row, earning back-to-back All-GLIAC accolades and a D2CCA All-Region honor.  Muana was named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Women's All-Midwest Region Second-Team, leading the team to the seven shutouts this season. She added three goals including one game-winner on the 2017 season. In 2016, Muana recorded a pair of assists from the back line and was named to the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention squad.

Sophomore midfielder Vanderhoff posted the teams high of five assists and notched four goals on the season, including two game-winners.Vanderhoff was named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Women's All-Midwest Region Third-Team. This is her first All-Region accolade of her career and Vanderhoff was selected to the All-GLIAC First Team as a Midfielder earlier this year.

Saginaw Valley advanced to its first GLIAC tournament finals under head coach Michael O'Neill, but fell in regulation time to Grand Valley, 3-0. The team posted a 10-7-2 (4-4-1 GLIAC) finish on the year.
