UNIVERSITY CENTER -- Looking to bounce back after a tough 1-0 loss on Friday to Davenport University, the SVSU Women's Soccer team did just that in a big way with a 6-0 home victory over Purdue Northwest University on Sunday (Oct. 8) afternoon.

Alexis Hilliard posted the first two goals for the Cardinals within four minutes of play. Hillard darted down the field and headed around the defender to sneak on into the back of the net at the 1:30' mark for the first goal of the contest. She quickly turned one goal into two at the 3' mark with the help of Lindsey Strobel, posting a 2-0 lead for Saginaw Valley.

Valentina Giambanco stayed aggressive against the Purdue Northwest defense, driving in the third goal at the 16' mark right passed the keepers legs.

Last goal of the half came from Jennifer Muana with the help of Allison Sims. The Cardinals bobbled the ball around in the box and eventually snagged a shot on goal by Muana and in it went. Saginaw Valley was up 4-0 at the half, posting 15 shots to PNW's two.

Saginaw Valley did not lighten up in the second half, with Molly Vanderhoff earning her second goal of the season by finding the back of the net after juking out the Prides keeper.

The game finished with Kayla Trevino scoring her first goal of the season off a short pass from Sakura Bals.  The Cardinals won 6-0 posting a total of 27 shots, while PNW struggled with only nine. Saginaw Valley had two saves to the Prides ten.

This was the team's third shutout of the 2017 campaign.
