UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The SVSU women's soccer team posted its fourth straight victory to open the 2016 season, defeating the Tiffin University Dragons by a count of 5-0 at home. The Cardinals notched three first half goals and added another pair in the second period to close-out for the non-conference victory.
Ashley Henderson (13') got the action going, scoring her first of two goals for the game after a nice feed from Shelby Watts to put SV up 1-0.
The second goal came at the 40' mark when Sakura Bals added a goal off an assist by Hannah Tarnaski, pushing the lead to 2-0.
Molly Vanderhoff (43') posted the third goal just a few minutes later, cutting through the defense to make the lead 3-0 to end the opening half of play.
Henderson (51') had her second goal early in the second half off a Svenja Luedtke feed and Kristin Syrowik (62') would finish the scoring with a goal after another Watts helper. That put the final score at 5-0.

- Henderson's two goals give her five on the season, already halfway to her total of 10 she had all of last season. She now has 34 for her career and is one off the all-time mark.
- Watts notched her first two points of the season with her two assists.

- The Cards held a 23-2 overall advantage in shots and put the pressure on the Dragon goalkeepers, with 15 of those shots on-goal.

Saginaw Valley will face the Timberwolves of Northwood on Sunday (Sep. 11) in a 1:00 p.m. contest. Northwood is 2-1 overall in 2016 and is coming off a narrow 4-3 loss at the hands of The University of Detroit-Mercy.
