BAY CITY - Saginaw Valley State University junior goalkeeper Claire Spleth has been selected as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Spleth had a solid weekend in the Lady Cardinals' two regional match-ups over the weekend. She had five saves and allowed a single Flyer goal with 15 seconds to play in the team's 1-0 loss on Friday. Spleth followed that up with a shutout over #9 Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday, stopping both shots she faced between the posts in the 2-0 victory.
SVSU continues play this weekend with a home match Friday (Sep. 11) against Madonna University at 1:00 p.m. The team opens GLIAC play the next Friday (Sep. 18) at home against Ohio Dominican University.
