SVSU Women Fall to #1 Grand Valley, 1-0

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich, - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team fell to the #1 ranked Grand Valley State University Lakers in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup.

Grand Valley owned the first half statistically.  The Lakers led the shots category 11-3 as well as held the advantage in corner kicks, 3-1.

SVSU may have had the best scoring opportunity of the half, however, when Presley Tibbits (Grandville, Mich./Grandville HS) dribbled through multiple defenders and ripped a shot off the post.

The game would remain scoreless going in to halftime.

The Lakers took a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute off a Jenny Shaba goal.  The Cardinals turned on the pressure in the late minutes, but failed to equalize.

Saginaw Valley drops to 3-3-1 overall and 1-2 in the GLIAC after the loss while Grand Valley improves to 5-0-1 and 3-0 in the conference.

The Cardinals are back in action Sunday (Sept. 29) at home against Ferris State. Kickoff is set for 12 pm.
