MIDLAND, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team posted a 2-2 tie at Northwood University on Friday (Sept. 13).

The Cardinals jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as freshman Ashley Henderson (Southgate, Mich./Gabriel Richard HS) netted a goal at the 38:11 mark in the first period.

The Timberwolves would score two consecutive goals in the second period to grab a 2-1 advantage 68:07 into the contest.

At the 75:58 marker, however, Henderson would strike again, scoring her team-leading third goal of the season to knot the score at 2-2.

Neither team could capitalize in the overtime periods, though, and the contest ended in a tie.

Seniors Shelby Wright (Fishers, Ind./Fishers HS) and Kellsey Poston (New Boston, Mich./Huron HS) both recorded assists in the contest, their first of the season.

SVSU returns to action Sunday (Sept. 15) on the road at Tiffin University in a match that is slated to begin at noon.
