Lady Cardinals Defeat Oilers in Overtime, 2-1

FINDLAY, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team topped the Oilers of the University of Findlay this afternoon (Oct. 26) winning 2-1 in overtime. The victory moves the Cardinals to 8-1-3 in the GLIAC and currently in third place.

This Oilers got out to a quick start when Megan Gallaway from the Oilers found the back of the net just 3:41 into the first half. 

Saginaw Valley responded when Lexie Brisson-Fast (Ferndale, Mich. / Ferndale HS) found the back of the net at the 14:30 minute mark to tie the game at 1-1. The goal was Brisson-Fast's third of the season.

The Cardinals and the Oilers went on to finish the second half of play scoreless as they headed to overtime.

SVSU's Kelsey Burt (Marengo, Ohio. / Highland HS) found the back of the net as she beat the Findlay defenders down the right side with a chip shot from 15 feet out for the game-winning tally and the 2-1 victory for the Cardinals.

Goalkeeper Laura Ivezaj (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester HS) earned her ninth win of the season with seven saves.

The Cardinals will return back to action against Tiffin University on Oct. 28 at 11:00 AM.
