ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team tied No. 1 Grand Valley State University today (Sept.21) 0-0 in double overtime in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest.

The Cardinal (2-1-3, 1-0-2 GLIAC) defense played an outstanding game against the top team in the country, holding the Lakers (6-0-2, 2-0-1 GLIAC) to just eight shots on goal for the contest.  Neither team would be able to capitalize on their shots throughout the game leading to a 0-0 finish in double overtime.  Sophomore keeper Laura Ivezaj (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester HS) stopped all eight shots she faced on goal as she helped lead the Cardinals to the tie. 

The Lady Cardinals will return back to action Sunday (Sept. 23) when they take on the Bulldogs of Ferris State University.
