Cardinals Fall to Tiffin, 1-0

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team fell to Tiffin University 1-0 today (Sept. 16) in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest. With the loss the Cardinals fall to 2-3 overall on the season, and 1-3 in the GLIAC, while the Dragons improve to 2-3-2 overall on the season and 2-1-1 in the GLIAC.

Neither Saginaw Valley nor Tiffin were able to capitilize on any of their shots in the first half of play ending the half in a 0-0 tie. The Dragons would find the back of the net for the only goal of the contest at the 70:28 mark defeating the Cardinals 1-0. Saginaw Valley out-shot Tiffin 14-12, having 8 shots in the first half and six in the second half of play. 

Senior Sam Echols (Wolverine Lake, Mich. / Walled Lake Central HS) had five shots, three of which were on goal, while freshman Cara Cirovski (Windsor, Ontario / St. Anne HS) had three shots for Saginaw Valley. Freshman goaltender Laura Ivezaj suffered the loss for the Cardinals making her 2-3 overall on the season, and 1-3 in the GLIAC.

Saginaw Valley will be back in action on Sunday (Sept. 18) when they travel to the University of Findlay. Game time is scheduled for noon.
