Cardinals Defeat Eagles, 1-0

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team defeated Ashland University 1-0 today (Oct. 17) in a Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match-up.

The Cardinals came out strong as junior Amanda Kady (Macomb, Mich./Eisenhower HS) found the back of the net at the 14:53 mark in the contest.  Saginaw Valley had 18 shots in the game while Ashland was only able to produce nine shots. 

The Cardinal defense along with junior goaltender Anne Berschbach (Algonac, Mich.) kept Ashland to only seven shots on goal for the game.  The shut-out marks Berschbach's fourth of the season.

With the win Saginaw Valley moves to 8-5-1 overall on the season, and 7-4-1 in the GLIAC, while Ashland falls to 3-8-2 overall on the season, and 2-7-2 in the GLIAC.  THe Cardinals will be back in action on Friday (Oct. 22) when they take on Northern Michigan.  Game time is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
