MIDLAND, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women’s soccer team opened the 2009 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) season with a 4-3 win over Northwood University today (Sept. 13).

The Cardinals took the early 1-0 advantage when Samantha Echols (Walled Lake, Mich. / Walled Lake HS) found the back of the net at the 13:03 mark. Northwood would take a 2-1 lead, before Jaclyn Barrett (Williamston, Mich. / Williamston HS) could find the net again for the Cardinals to knot the score at 2-2.
