FINDLAY, Ohio, - The Saginaw Valley State
University women’s soccer team picked up its fifth win of the
season today (Sept. 20) as they defeated Findlay by a score of
2-0.
The Cardinals used two Kristen Tomczyk
(Lapeer, Mich. / Lapeer East HS) goals in the win, the first coming
just before the end of the first half at 44:30 to give Saginaw
Valley the 1-0 advantage. Tomczyk would find the net again in the
50th minute on an assist from freshman Tiffany Bell (Troy,
Mich. / Troy Athens HS) to give the Cardinals the 2-0 final
advantage. Anne
Berschbach (Algonac, Mich. / Algonac HS) held the opposition
scoreless for the second straight game, improving her scoreless
streak to 283 minutes this season.
With the win the Cardinals improve to 5-1-1 overall on the season
and 2-0-1 in the GLIAC, while Findlay falls to 3-3 overall on the
season and 2-1 in the GLIAC. Saginaw Valley will return to action
on Friday (Sept. 25) when they travel to Northern Michigan for a
4:00 PM start.
