UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley
State University women’s soccer team defeated Tiffin
University this afternoon (Oct. 9), 3-1, in a Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) matchup
The Cardinals got on the board first when freshman Lara English
(Charlotte, Mich. / Charlotte HS) scored her first career goal at
the 24 minute mark. Saginaw Valley would then go up 2-0 as
sophomore Samantha Echols
(Walled Lake, Mich. / Walled Lake HS) found the back of the net off
a pass from junior Amanda Kady (Macomb,
Mich. / Eisenhower HS). Tiffin would cut the lead to 2-1 61 minutes
into the contest. SVSU would answer back, though, with a goal off
the foot of senior Jaclyn Barrett
(Williamston, Mich. / Williamston HS) for her eighth goal of the
season.
With the win, Saginaw Valley improves to 9-1-2 overall, and 6-0-2
in the GLIAC, while Tiffin falls to 3-4-2 overall and 3-3-2 in
conference play. The Cardinals will be back in action when they
host the University of Findlay Sunday (Oct. 11) for a 12:00 pm
contest.
