ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Saginaw Valley State
University women’s soccer team picked up it’s first win
of the season today (Aug. 30) against Lewis Univeristy by a score
of 2-1.
In a game that was dominated by both defenses in the first half it
was freshman Tiffany Bell (Troy,
Mich. / Troy Athens HS) who gave the Cardinals their first goal of
the game and of the season on an assist by Jacylyn Barrett
(Williamston, Mich. / Williamston HS). Lewis would knot the game at
1-1 just two minutes later, but Bell would strike again for her
second goal of the game to give the Cardinals’ a 2-1 lead
that they would hold on to for the win.
With the win Saginaw Valley improves to 1-1 overall on the season,
while Lewis falls to 1-1 on the season. The Cardinals will return
to action on Sept. 8 when they host St. Francis (Ind.) at 2:00 PM.
