University sophomore midfielder Samantha Echols
(Walled Lake, Mich./Walled Lake) earned GLIAC Women’s Soccer
"Athlete of the Week" honors after scoring four goals and leading
Saginaw Valley State to a 3-0 week three record, including a 1-0
GLIAC record.
Echols, a sophmore midfielder led the Cardinals to 3-0 record this
past week. For the week, Echols tallied four goals, two assists,
and ten points. Echols netted three goals in the 4-3 victory over
conference rival Northwood, giving SVSU a 1-0 conference record.
Against Alma College Echols found the back of the net early in the
second half to give the Cardinals their fifth goal of the game.
The Cardinals will travel to Ohio this weekend to play Tiffin
(Sept. 18) and Findlay (Sept. 20) as the continue GLIAC play.
