MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women’s soccer team recorded and important 1-0 victory over Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Northern Michigan today (Sept. 25).

After a scoreless first half, Renee Privette (Port Huron, Mich. / Port Huron HS) found the back of the net off of a Tiffany Bell (Troy, Mich. / Troy Athens HS) assist to give the Cardinals the only goal of the game in the 64th minute. Goalkeeper Anne Berschbach (Algonac, Mich. / Algonac HS) picked up her third straight shutout, increasing her scoreless streak to 373 minutes this season as she stopped all eight Wildcat shots.

With the win the Cardinals improve to 6-1-1 overall on the season and 3-0-1 in the GLIAC, while Northern Michigan falls to 4-4 overall on the season and 2-2 in the GLIAC. The Cardinals will return to the field on Sunday (Sept. 27) when they host Ashland University at the SVSU Soccer Complex for a noon start.
