INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - For the first time in program history, the Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team has secured a spot in the NCAA Division II Playoffs.  After posting a school-record 14 victories this fall, the Cardinals find themselves in the playoffs after finishing in the sixth spot in the Midwest Region.

The Cardinals sealed-up the #6 seed in the Midwest Region after a tie with Grand Valley State University in the 2009 GLIAC Championship Match, and will travel to the campus of Northern Kentucky University for a first-round match with #3 Quincy University (14-5-1), which lost, 1-0 to Northern Kentucky in the Great Lakes Valley Conference title match.  NKU, the #2 seed overall in the Midwest Region, will face the winner of this match. 

Grand Valley State University, the #1 seed in the Midwest, received the other first-round bye, and will face-off against the winner of #4 Bellarmine (13-3-1) and #5 Indianapolis (15-5-0) in Allendale, Mich.  

The first-round matches are set for Friday, Nov. 13 and the second-round is set for Sunday, Nov. 15.  Game time for SVSU's first round match is 7:00 pm.
