UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team broke the school record for wins today (Oct. 30) when they defeated Ferris State University 3-0 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match-up.

The Cardinals opened the scoring in the second half when senior Jaclyn Barrett (Williamston, Mich.) netted her first of her three goals on the day off a pass from Kayla Johnston (Livonia, Mich. / Churchhill HS).  Saginaw Valley went up 2-0 on the Bulldogs in the 64th minute of the game when Barrett shot the ball through the goalkeeper's hands on a pass from Tiffany Bell (Troy, Mich.), and just minutes later Barrett would cap off the afternoons scoring with her third straight goal and her second hat trick on the season.  The Saginaw Valley defense once again played tough allowing only three shots on goal all of which goalkeeper Anne Berschbach (Algonac, Mich. / Algonac HS) was able to save, the shutout was her eighth of the season.

With the win Saginaw Valley improves to 13-2-2 overall on the season and 10-1-2 in the GLIAC, while Ferris State falls to 3-12-2 overall on the season and 3-9-1 in the GLIAC.  The Cardinals return to action on Friday (Oct. 30) when the return home to host Northwood University at 4:00 pm.
