Cardinals Fall to Lakers, Unbeaten Streak Snapped

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Sagianw Valley State University women's soccer team saw its 14 game unbeaten streak snapped today (Oct. 25) at #5 Grand Valley State University, 2-0.


The Cardinals' fell behind in the fifth minute when Grand Valley's Ashley Bott scored on a crossing pass from the right side.  SVSU seemed to settle in until the Lakers' found the back of the net in the 28th minute to extend the lead to 2-0.  The Cardinals would be able to hold the Lakers the rest of the game defensively, but would only be able to muster three shots on goal as they could not find a way to break past the Grand Valley defense.


With the loss the Cardinals fall to 12-2-2 overall on the season and 9-1-2 in the GLIAC, while the Lakers move to 15-0-2 overall on the season and 11-0-1 in the GLIAC.  Saginaw Valley will return to action on Wednesday (Oct. 28) when they travel to Ferris State to make up last Friday's contest that was postponed do to weather, before returning home on Friday (Oct. 30) to close out the regular season against Northwood.
