UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley
State University women’s soccer team extended their unbeaten
streak to 12 games today (Oct. 11) when they defeated the
University of Findlay, 2-0 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match-up.
The Cardinals got on the board in the 13th minute when freshman Abby Bellamy
(Davidson, Mich) netted a goal off a pass from sophomore Samantha Echols
(Walled Lake, Mich.). Saginaw Valley would go ahead 2-0 when senior
Jaclyn
Barrett (Williamston, Mich.) found the back of the net off a
pass from sophomore goalie Anne Berschbach
(Algonac, Mich.). Berschbach held the opposition scoreless, making
three saves and recording her sixth shutout of the season for the
Cardinals.
With the win, Saginaw Valley improves to 10-1-2 overall on the
season, and 7-0-2 in the GLIAC, while Findlay falls to 4-5-2
overall on the season and 3-3-2 in the GLIAC. The Cardinals will
return to action when they host Northern Michigan University Friday
(Oct. 16) for a 4:00pm contest.
